Blogs are better than Journals

Hi David,

WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF TOMORROW!

Also welcome to my blog about the production of Possibilities with Christopher Brauer!  We've just had out first meeting which is always exciting. Productions can get so overwhelming and all encompassing once every thing gets rolling, but the first meeting is always so exhilarating. You never know what everyone's going to bring to the table and sometimes people really take you by surprise. Nothing Christopher brought to the table was necessarily surprising, but almost everything was on levels I  hadn't even begun to consider, which is great!  I took lots of notes that I will scan and post on this blog later today (that's why this idea is secretly genius I can gather everything into one easy place as we go).

I think Christopher and I are on more of a page than it may seem at first. What he was describing was what I had originally planned to have the set evolve (or devolve) to by the end of the play. He just wanted to get there quicker than I anticipated for a Brauer show. Having seen and worked with Christopher's shows over the last 4 or so years I had planned on using the mechanics of the set to slowly break it down and strip away layers til we reached a rubble covered graffiti covered layer. Which was why I chose Islamic manuscript illuminations as a starting layer I thought they would explode well. However he has a point about the Third Years needing more of a play ground to work in and not a set to be responsible for, which is something I would not have thought of.

Here are some buzz words from Christopher's ramble about the play that I am going to be thinking about during my next reading of the play:
- The Familiar Destroyed
- Artifacts of life before
- Set as an actor canvas
- Stairways without walls
- Ugly until you light it
- Haunted place
- Catastrophe is also Birth
- Sword of Damacles
- Things we can adapt to
- Transitions

I have many more notes but this is what stood out for me.
